London break Hotels

We are looking at a long weekend family break to see some of the sights and visit Madame Tussauds etc and wondered has anyone stayed at a good central ish hotel they could recommend.
Its for my daughters birthday so don`t mind a bit of luxury on the hotel front.
Having never been before we plan to get the train in to London so wont be using a car when there.
