BMW M2 Clubsport Build.... Stormtrooper Track Toy
Discussion
I seem to be a seasoned expert at doing these threads.
I have acquired a new car and plan to document my experiences with it.
Its a ready built car with the following spec:-
- Nitrons R3 with remote reservoirs
- Apex EC-7 wheels, 18"x9.5J (Square)
- AP Racing Pro 5000 R brakes (front and rear)
- Hell braided lines
- RSL29 pads front and rear
- Direzza tyres (18/35/265)
- OEM BMW Motorsport race series Carbon rear wing
- Custom Splitter and side skirts
- Recaro "BMW" CS Sportster seats
- M2 CS bonnet
- Titanium stud conversion
As you can see a lot of money has been spent just on parts (over £35k)
I have a few things I have planned before it's first outing on track in Feb:-
- Pinnacle brake cooling system (plates, air feeds and ducts)
- Spare RSL29 pads
- Tow straps (front and rear) with slotted covers
- Alcantara wheel (thinner like my GT3/4 had)
- General undercarriage clean and spruce up (I do that with all cars I buy!)
- Strip out rear seats and bits
- Yokohama AD09s (to cope with the wet / damp conditions better than the Direzzas this time of year).
- Full geo (to my spec)
Future plans
- Charge pipe
- Intercooler
- Rear cage
- Harnesses
- Various bushing tweaks, etc
- Other bits and bobs!
Updates and blurb to come.

Oh and here is current Geo.... needs the toe sorting.

Thanks all. To answer some questions….
It has standard mapping and previous owner lapped the Nurburgring sub 8 easily so is property quick just from chassis mods.
I intend to improve cooling just so that it manages hot days more effectively…. However the allure of a map may come in time.
I’ve had my eye out for a ready built track M car for some time now … I stumbled accross this and a few hours later I reserved it.
I thought long and hard over the weekend following this on whether to keep the Trophy R, however I couldn’t figure out when I would drive it. It would become a garage queen / collectible and I’m not into that. So it went!
First Job
As always with a new car. I remove the wheels and give the undercarriage a deep clean so I can properly inspect it on the lifts…..
Pleased to see the freshly serviced Nitrons were immaculate.
Discs are like new with no lips. Pads will last a couple of track days.

Update
I've been really rubbish, providing no updates!
I've done quite a lot to the M2 and I've even managed 2 track days with another one in a couple of weeks (and more booked in).
I'll do my best to update this thread. Let's start, multiple posts coming.
So some changes I've done:-
Brakes
- Pinnacle brake cooling system. Feeds air from under the front control arms to a duct in a custom plate which directs air inside the bell to provide even cooling throughout the disc.

I also added a fresh set of RSL29 pads which I used for 2 x track days. They were ace (but Ive made more changes since!)
Tyres / suspension
I added some Yoko AD09s onto the Apex wheels to survive Feb track days.
I also changed the geo slightly

Some Nitron adjustable drop links to marry up with the R3 coilovers

Interior
I don't need the rear seats, so I stripped them out, including all the belts and buckles. It was a significant weight!

I added a seat mounted 1l fire extinguisher

BMW Comp/CS button (sad I know!)

New thinner steering wheel (like my GT4)

Some carbon magnetic paddles (like I had in the GT4)

Apple CarPlay (wireless)

Loads more to update on ........
