Tesla insurance expensive?

I'm seriously considering a used Model Y long range (22/23 plate), but I'm trying to make the figures add up. Insurance cost is putting a dent in my calculations, I'm being quoted £1300+ for very basic insurance, I pay £350 for my current Ford Smax. Ok my current car is 10 years old but still.... Are EV's/Teslas just expensive to insure?

Anywhere I should try to get it down to a sensible premium? Any EV /Tesla specific providers?

It's looking like running a Tesla will cost me 30% more than running my ICE car, that's without the 3p/m that is coming.

Try Admiral, they're pretty good for my Tesla... Direct Line used to be good, but they're now quite expensive.

The wife asked the same question, she bought an electric car that does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds then was complaining that her insurance was expensive!
