What's your go-to for lunch when you're on the go? - assuming you haven't had the time / foresight to prepare something portable at home.
We've spent a lot of time in the past couple of months outside of our normal stomping ground and away from home and I'm not really that impressed with the quick and easy options for lunch.
M&S Simply Food at petrol stations tends to have a very limited range of sandwiches
Same story for Sainsbury's local.
McDonalds / Burger King are ok once every couple of weeks, but not something I want regularly. I find KFC a challenge unless I've been drinking
We're either travelling on the A40 (mostly) between Thame and Cheltenham, or the M4 between Maidenhead and Bristol. There are 3 or 4 burger vans in laybys on the A40, but I've never actually stopped and checked out the offerings - maybe I should.
I did very much enjoy the home made soup from the takeaway counter at Gloucester Services, but we're only driving past there once a month or so.

My go-to when I'm somewhere there isn't any food to be had, or I don't fancy what's on offer is a home made fruit and nut mix. Shop bought are all too sweet / full of raisins.
I make this in bulk and keep in the fridge, then it's just a question of decanting a day's worth into a container and sticking it in my bag.
Roughly chopped or broken into halves:
Medjool dates
Dried apricots
Berries and cherries mix
Cashew nuts
Pecan nuts
Brazil nuts
Toasted coconut flakes
Pumpkin seeds
It's a good old chew, but keeps me going. That, and bananas.
