Starting Problem

Haven't used the GT3 for a few weeks so did the usual to enter it ie key in door to unlock then remote to unimmobilise. When I tried to start it lots of clicking noises and all the lights on the dashboard flashing. Do you reckon this could be a battery problem or something else like starter motor. Trouble is I'm off again tomorrow for the rest of the week so not much time to sort it out. Any help appreciated.

Def. sounds like lack of charge in the battery... Clicking is normally a good sign for s/motor...

Yep sounds like the battery has just a little charge in it but not enough to turn the engine over.

Best get a trickle charger if you are gonna leave it for weeks at a time.
The car's alarm system, tracker (if fitted) all take a slow drain.

On the flip side I left my 996TT for nearly 5 days recently with the Road Angel plugged in (doe !) & it started just fine......well surprised.

Have just tried to remove battery but as soon as I take off the negative lead the alarm goes off evem though it should be disarmed by the key. Could this be an immobiliser problem?

you need to put the alarm in "service" mode before you take the battery out or do any servicing on the car

How do you put it into "Service Mode" as cant find any reference to it in manual

If it's the same as my old Boxster, turn the key on, switch off any accessories and then disconnect the battery.

Thanks for that. Worked a treat now charging. By the way would it be worth investing in a trickle charger and if so can it be used with the battery fully connected and the alarm on?

Yes, trickle charger is what u need
Yes, plug it in with the alarm on. That's what I do. I installed a special connector to the battery so I can simply plug in or out the trickle charger and still close the bonnet.
