Hello,
I need to replace my oven, a single built in one, and I thought it would be great to have a rotisserie. They do exist but it seems like they're a lot more niche than I thought. Hotpoint did one but seemingly not anymore

Am I missing something or are these a pointless gimmick nobody bought?

They used to be the height of chic in the 1970's, usually in your Moffat double oven - I'd forgoten they still exist

I have one in an air fryer - more trouble than it's worth.

My trussed up chicken (dead of course) started banging on the window after a few minutes like something out of a horror film.

I don't think it makes any difference.

i have an air fryer with one built in (deliberately purchased just to cook chickens) and i bothered to spend 2 minutes on youtube learning how to tie it properly so it wouldn’t bang about

you cant beat rotisserie chicken IMO it tastes vastly superior to any other method of cooking, and being an air fryer it only takes 45 mins to cook

I've got precious little surface space for a dedicated machine so the idea of having one in the oven appeals.

My old hotpoint had a rotisserie. I stress old hotpoint. I binned it after a year. Worst oven I’ve ever owned.

Never got to try to e rotisserie. Just getting it hot was a challenge.

Think we had one (never used) in our oven when I was a kid. Main disadvantage I can think of is they must be rather messy, surely you'd virtually need to clean the oven after each use? Easier on a air fryer as they are a lot smaller.

Now a rotisserie on a BBQ, they work well.

Shouldn't be too messy with a tray full of veg underneath.

Discouraging responses so far though

Put the air fryer inside the oven to save on surface space.
