How does PH know I used the same password on another site?

It's a feature provided by PH's authentication provider who track large security breaches that occur on major third-party sites.

Password hashes.

Bet if you go to https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords and pop your PistonHeads password in it'll feature somewhere else where you use the same password.

It’s not the most secure of passwords, had it since the beginning when life was simpler!!

Thanks for prompt responses - (post was public as I thought it may be of interest)

Stock answer on this stuff is get yourself a password manager and use strong long unique passwords for every website you use and enable 2FA where possible.

Prioritise the things that can mess up your real life i.e. your email provider and social media.

PH isn't sending a password email, so I can't change my password. See below. Is this a 'me' problem or a site problem?

Just had this twice! But when I try to reset my password it errors

"There was a problem sending the password reset email. Please try again"

The password I am using is very old and was compromised a long time ago and no longer used (it is partially comprised of an old dog's name and that dog has been gone for over fifteen years!) I remember having to change it on other more dangerous sites like amazon maybe. I only use this site for chatting rubbish with other idiots.
