Also I hope this one isn't filled with that god awful Queen soundtrack, nothing against Queen but it hasn't aged well IMHO.

I loved the Queen version of "New York, New York" in the original.

I remember trying to find a copy at the time, without success.

I'm really not sure about this. The original is really good film. Everything since has been awful, though I did quite like the TV series with Adrian Paul in

Henry Cavill is a decent casting choice. I'm not sure that Dave Bautista as The Kurgen is.

I think the opportunity for a remake was probably more in the nature of a TV series. There are centuries to draw upon after all and you could have new stories for a TV series.

Sadly, all the movie sequels were to a greater or lesser extent, rubbish. Highlander 2 was a real lowpoint though - remember seeing it in the cinema on weekend of release and it was one of the most disappointing cinematic experiences ever. It retroactively spoiled the first film if you accepted the premise, which is why nobody takes it as canon.

The TV series was very good though and a worthy 'sequel' - even though it wasn't actually a sequel but supposedly set in a parallel timeline. I think the new movie is going to take some elements from it (eg. 'The Watchers').

When I was in New York I made a point of seeking out the bar that Nash/McLeod and Brenda first meet - Peter McManus Cafe on 7th Avenue (in the Chelsea region).

Also stood at the exact point on Bow Bridge where Kastagir and McLeod re-unite, and visited the building used for the street scenes of Nash Antiques (not actually on Hudson Street).

Can you tell I am a fan of the original?

The original was one of my favourite films back in the day, it hasn't aged particularly well though.
