Classic Ebay adverts that don't want you to buy..
Discussion
Always amazes me how negative or aggressive some advertisers can be when trying to sell something a bit rare. This one's something I've been interested in for a while but I don't think I'd go for this particular one!

"Gilbern invader mk2, Great driving car, chassis is solid and original, usual paintwork for 54 year old fiberglass car, good strong engine V6 Essex. Gear box smooth four gears plus overdrive. Interior fantastic condition. Full stainless from manifold back. Probably need a day with auto electrician passenger window not working ( electric), horn, indicators not working simple fixes but electrical stuff is not my thing. She a good drivers car which is what she was made to do. Please bear in mind that this car was hand built in a shed in wales! She will need constant maintenance she’s also heavy when not moving you will need muscle. Wheels are gold as shown been refurbished and new Pirelli tyres fitted, she just waiting for a new home. Selling as Iv decided to buy newer weekend cars no time to keep up the maintenance. She £7500 buy it now which is stupid cheap but I know the classic car market if flat at the moment. But I won’t be going any lower, if not sold in next 7 days she will be going into secure storage.
Any serious questions please ask. No I don’t want you part ex or a swap so don’t ask. Car is located close to Cardiff airport. Many thanks Robert.
Please for the love of god, if you’re thinking of contacting me, go look in the mirror and be honest with yourself! If there’s an old fart looking back at you with arthritis and you struggled to get to the mirror in the first place. DO NOT MESSAGE. "
So for 54 year old paint - Couldn't be bothered to touch it up and spend the money. If its down through the gelcoat 3-4k for a good respray. 1-2 doing all the prep oneself.
Needs a full day with an electrician - You can cover all the bills for the bits that don't work!
I know the market is flat - but want full going rate for a car that wouldn't pass an MOT
Never any info about how long they've owned it or how often it's been used or not.
As for the last bit - words fail!

No affiliation, so not defending. But...https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/406647702396?_skw=class...

We've all sold cars with paint that "could be better" and we've all weighed up the costs of getting it done vs. how much to ask for the car.
Anyone buying a 50 year old British car expecting a full complement of working electrics is dreaming. A full day with an auto electrician will see everything working... for that day.
The only Invaders I've seen for anything around this money looked in far worse shape.
Lack of info about ownership history might be important to you, but isn't to everybody. At least there's a decent array of pictures, including the interior.
Not sure why the seller has a beef with older, less agile buyers - that's just weird.
Also, listing has ended. Sold? Disgruntled? Who knows...
He was doing quite well until he got to the ageism bit.
I’m an old fart and having spent today trying to repair a leaking Algarvian roof in driving rain I can now confirm that I tick the arthritic box also.
In my Cardiffian school days I shared many a beer with the son of Giles Smith (the “Gil” of Gilbern). I’ve always admired Gilberns - particularly the ex-Ken Wilson Chevy V8 GT that has featured on this forum before now & which I watched race in period.
Having sold my Fulvia Coupe I’ve been yearning for a replacement - preferably something relatively easy to maintain with a hex or oct V engine under the bonnet.
So, an arthritic old fart with a weakness for Gilberns and a modicum of spare cash could have been his salvation. However eBay has become a rather dishonest and angry place & for that reason I would have been out.
(to his credit he didn’t resort to pushing the dreaded AI description button).
