We ll need a separate thread I think for Marks Bugatti, I d have started the haggling with a 6 and stopped at 7.5, I think Matt A said almost everything including the bolts was marked Bugatti, could easily come to £500k to get that back to pristine.

(Except the air bags)
As requested. wink

I watched this last night, well some of it it did waffle rather a lot.
How the hell does a car like that end up in that state?
I admire that the Vayron was made but they look crap to me and putting it through the Masonry filter hasn't done anything for it.

It'll make good content though.

Didn’t he say the next video on it will be him driving it home. I hope that isn’t the case but I didn’t get the impression there was going to be a video series on it.
If it only costs him £500k to get it pristine then he will have got a bargain.

I would say that the first view when he rung Mat Armstrong for advice was before Christmas as you could see his unfinished kitchen in the background

Also not sure why we need a new thread as already being discussed elsewhere

That would make sense. He had to sell half a dozen cars or so to fund the Veyron and that would take time.

Agreed about no need for a separate thread btw. It just introduces cross posting and confusion.

On the Matt Armstrong thread that gets derailed enough as it is.

I can see it end up with a full paint as well, once that aluminium gets stained it’s a bu66er to keep nice, ask any Caterham owner.

Also being discussed in the main Automotive Vloggers thread here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Its just got too many unknowns for Me. How many hands and garages have been tinkering with it. How long has it been undriveable. And how can the value be there for a chavved about Barry'ed car like this. I never see this car making top money. If you buy one of these for top money you want a well cared for original car. You dont want one which has been ripped apart like this and messed around with. I think this car only makes sense for him as a mechanism for making content and attracting viewers. Which it will definitely do more so than a simple working car in good condition.

This feels like the most sensible route to get that car back on the road and driving. Being able to monetise the process of restoration will (hopefully) make the final sums more manageable.

Interesting video in the Logbook on financing super/hyper cars. Perhaps he should’ve gone down that route rather than selling stuff.

Looking forward to watching this one, I like his full disclosure approach...not to mention his wife's face when she saw it was in two parts laugh

I would expect that Mark has done a lot more research on what is needed than was shown, and that Furlonger - who know the car - have a reasonable idea too. That's not to say it isn't without material risk, but I dohn't think he has bought a car for 900K on a complete guess.

He has c.£400-500k to put it right I guess.

The big question is the gearbox.

I think it will be interesting to watch, and the yt revenue might take the sting out of it a bit.

Started watching this with a work colleague during yesterday s lunch but got mithered half way through.

I said I d have bought it for £800k. The gearboxes were made by Ricardo (UK?) so there must be engineering support from someone there?

Just hope he gets the camera heavily involved in the rebuild process - would like to see the process in getting it back to working state.

I wonder who has had the car previously and failed to fix it. Didn't he say the gearbox had been taken out and looked at already (and multiple parts swapped)?

This Furlonger will be getting great publicity from this, and I'm sure they'll get it working - but at what cost!

Personally I can't stand that polished chrome, but I'm 100% MM will be wrapping it black and sticking some dodgy looking wheels on it. 9,000 miles will be a decent car when done.

Taking about wheels, Ed Bolian (VinWiki) recently got a set made by a Chinese firm to allow him to run Chiron wheels on his Veyron. I can’t remember the costs involved but it was a fraction of the cost of a set of Veyron tyres.

By all accounts you can run Chiron tyres on a Veyron but as they are different sizes you have to run a lower speed limit also it will be an interesting chat with your insurance company if something goes wrong as you have fitted lower spec tyres
