I don't think it was the slow driving that held people up, only the lack of clear signalling to allow overtaking and and muppets in certain cars.
6 stoppages is not good by any measure and I'm sure one of those involved will be a little more circumspect on the opening laps next time.
But good fun once I was on track, and away from those overtaking without consent through corners.
Was the official photographer there as promised as I saw/heard no mention of him/them.

We were in a red peugeot 205 GTI.
Doesn't help that there were three out there but ours was the one without any graphics on if that helps.
Sorry mate, I've only got ones of the Silver 205, I was there with the Clio's (waits for comments
) but managed to stay on the track!! Should have posted on here before hand, so we could have looked out for you guys.

Didn't see any of the official photographer, and unfortunalty didn't get any pics of your BM either! But I did get a thumbs up as I let you past on the main straight!
Your car was making a very odd noise as we were watching you through Craner, was it ok??

The only 'odd' noise would have been the 'dive bomber' sounds from the rally tyres I had on - very strange noise indeed, but eventually came to love it.
The tyres went 'off' very quickly (5 laps) and needed cooling down before trying again - 2 tonnes of barge do not really suit supersoft tyres, but they were a bargain.
Being a 'veteran' of about 50 track days I (and I hope others) really appreciate the 'invites' to overtake and should always give a quick thanks for the pass and try to do the same for other faster cars.
Unfortunately I do get a bit hacked off when I'm concentrating on the racing line only to be forced to take evasive manouevres when another driver decides he can't wait the 5 seconds for me to exit the corner and indicate before overtaking.
Luckily only ever caused one car to go off the track when coming through uninvited (I can usually avoid them) at a very wet Silverstone where I completely screwed up a corner and just drifted very wide as someone else decided to use the outside line of the same corner. No damage to my car, but the Caterham didn't come off so well.
Had to miss the last hour as my brakes were completely shot and didn't want to risk t-boning someone if they gave up the ghost. Being my 30k miles a year daily driver also means I'm not going to be upgrading everything to track spec.

I know what you mean about not going to hard on the daily commute car! Which is my excuse for being so slow
There are a couple of clips from the day up, first one being my mate in a Clio 182 Cup chasing a 911! and me crusing round in a Cupped 182 (There is a difference) at the end of the day with Donny to myself!

First time i have done a track-action day before. Overall i thought the day was pretty good and worth paying the extra to get an open pit lane compared to sessions run by Donington's own company. Only gripe would be with the seemingly random discharge of cars out of the pit lane straight onto the racing line. Had (and saw) a couple of close calls with that one. Other than that a pretty good day (while it lasted).

Yeah the guy walked away, as did the guy who slammed into the pit wall sideways!
I enjoyed the day, but I'd agree with you about the random nature of the exit from the pitlane, plus I think the day really needed a spotting lap for those who had never driven at Donington before, might have cut down on the spills early in the day

My first session out was one of those close calls, as at all the other days I'd been at Donny the controller would only let you out when there was a decent gap, so there go I accelerating to pull out of the pit lane when I notice a convoy of about 10 cars on my right and had to stop at the 'give way' lines.
Bearing in mind the greasy conditions 1st thing agree that some sighting laps would have been very useful.
Don't know whether you have heard this before but apparently the track surface at Donington can be a lot greasier than other circuits (when it is wet) as a result of the the jet fuel vapours landing on the circuit from planes taking off from EMA next door.
Might be a load of bunkum but it's one worth adding to the book of excuses if you do go off!!

It's true - 'Old Hairpin' tends to soak up fuel residue from the jets during hot weather and then when the rain comes the residue rises to the surface and makes it very slippy for a while. It gets better as it dries though.
