F45 LED headlinghts constantly resetting / bouncing

So maybe once a week on a journey I'll notice that the headlights keep dropping down to the base position then rising up again on an endless loop while driving.

I read the codes via bimmerlink and see one relating to a LIN bus short circuit. I've taken the connectors off the backs of the lights and everything looks clean, bright and dry. There's no damage visible on the bits of wiring that I can see.

Are these also related to the level sensors on the suspension? Is there anything else I can be checking?

It's going to get very expensive if I have to start randomly replacing things

Do you have a level sensor connected to an rod clipped onto the suspension arm? Mine has broken, a replacement is about £30.
