Having both worked in education for quite a while, Mrs D and I are hyper sensative to things like this.
The golden rules are:
1. Never be alone with anyone you don't know
2. Never touch anyone (probably even those you know)
(this applies to your kids friends, don't drive them home alone)
And as my old Head of Department used to say
3. Don't f
k the sixthformers
Seriously, these days, whatever you're doing, try and get someone else to help, flag them down, tell them what's going on, ask for help, call 111/101 and tell them what you're going to do.

Yikes! What a near miss for him, poor fella.
I did the same to a girl about 30 years ago, except I was at traffic with the window down and she drunkenly leaned through and begged me to take her home... I did, dropping her off and driving away without ever getting out the car... It's crossed my mind a few times over the years, how different people in the same situation, could have had very different outcomes...
