Do you recommend renewing BMW warranty or not?
Discussion
I take it that includes Europe wide roadside assistance?
Aren’t main dealers well over £200 per hour labour now? It’s a chance isn’t it like any insurance. You only have to have one part that costs say £150 and takes 3 hours labour and your quids in. I pay for one as these cars are so electronically complicated now it just makes sense. Peace of mind for a year.

All advice appreciated. My quote is £750 for a 2019 G30 with 45k miles on the clock including breakdown.
Would you renew for that price or no?
Advantages and disadvantages?
All thoughts appreciated
I’m in the same position for my 5 series G30. Same price. I think it is a no brainer tbh given the cost of BMW repairs. I plan to pay the £73 a month as don’t fancy a huge bill for a transfer case or the like.Would you renew for that price or no?
Advantages and disadvantages?
All thoughts appreciated

£750 for a 1 year warranty on a 2019 car! My 2018 Seat Leon was just under £720 for 2 years warranty, 2 services, 2 MOTs & 2 years breakdown cover (including EU+). The warranty replaced a broken spring when car was 7 years old.
No offence but I don’t think you can compare a Seat Leon pricing to a BMW 5 series pricing MrBeEmW said:

Some of the repair bills I've seen on Bmw's have been eye watering.
My F30 335d has been on the extended warranty after the initial 3 years. It is now 9 years old. Because it is over 60k miles, the price has jumped. Besides which it will only last until 10 years old.
I love the car, it's a keeper. I have looked at the cost to buy new again - ridiculous. So I am setting money aside for the worst case scenarios.
In any insurance, the cost is spread among contributers, but it's the company that profits. Your choice.

How many times have you claimed on the extended warranty since the initial 3 years finished ? I love the car, it's a keeper. I have looked at the cost to buy new again - ridiculous. So I am setting money aside for the worst case scenarios.

Like Pica Pica, same age and model (but touring) with a very high spec added when ordered by first owner and i've kept the warranty up on it. Just done 66k miles, now on pay monthly. I know two people who have had full panoramic roof failures, the costs are eye watering.
I had a claim last year for a failed LED headlight, bill inc VAT was just over £2,500 - if i'd been putting the money away i'd have been short.
We also have kept the extension on our F40 m135i, it's only done 13k miles in 6 years but it's hugely spec'd and the amount of electronics on it are frightening. I think we pay £85 a month to cover both.
@ Pica Pica - it's 100k when they really put the price up, and it goes to named component. I will check, and could be wrong but the cover available for 10 year old plus cars is still really comprehensive.

I have seen other warranties available, but they are limited to £5k which is not a lot.
Yes...
I added fully comp BMW warranty to our F31 when we first got it Jan 2023; it paid in dividends later 2023 and in mid 2024 for a few bits (nothing major, but enough to put a dent into savings etc) - all for £500 excess all in - 3 lots of work done over 2 claims via Bowker BMW, no quibbles at all and the car is still pristine / faultless now
It's out of the extended warranty now; had it for the 1st 2 years of ownership for peace of mind; MOTs done via Bowkers as well in case they picked anything up
You only need an engine / box / diff / transfer case issue and you'll be glad of the warranty!

As some have already said, the warranty companies are offering an insurance product and are making profits, so for every case where an owner is “quids in” there will be a silent majority paying their premiums for “peace of mind” but not actually making a claim.
I’d add another factor to consider - how well do you know your car and how much do you trust it? If you’ve owned the car from new you are in a better position to make that judgement. If you are confident it has been well looked after and is in better condition than the average car of similar age and mileage, the warranty charge is going to be less value than for a car for which history is less certain.
Of course, pristine cars can still have expensive failures.
Ultimately it’s a personal call.

Do you need the breakdown cover and do you need zero excess? My Z4 M40i renewal was around the same with breakdown and zero excess however removing breakdown (as I get with my bank) and setting excess to £250 brought the price down to £359 which I find much more tolerable whilst still giving peace of mind.

Only you can decide. It s an insurance product. Insurance companies take in more in premiums than they pay out in claims (otherwise they go bust)
Working in the insurance industry was what made me decide not to bother extending it! I only had the first car another 6 months, but had the 2nd another 4 years and was better off not paying for it.
Although given how complex newer models are I might be tempted now for peace of mind.

That looks more like the benefits you get when you take out manufacturers finance on a car.I got the same when I part financed a used 2017 Skoda Yeti from a Skoda dealer, but a couple of days later I withdrew from the finance agreement, paid off the balance and kept all of those benefits.
