Haven’t used my 06 V8 for about 2 months, it’s been M it’s CTEK the whole time, and the CTEK indicates all is well….. however I’ve just tried the ignition (not started it) and got the Low battery warning.

The CTEK was on “recond” mode…. Have I messed up there?

Any advice gratefully received smile

I keep the instructions for my CTEK in the garage, so forgive me for not rushing out to check, but... did you read the instructions?

Ha not properly clearly. I didn’t realise it could be switched onto Car only, I thought the mode combination was either car or motorbike, with with either “AGM” or “Recond” ….. it’s on Car only now hopefully haven’t introduced electrical gremlins forever more!

Have you actually tried starting it? The “low battery” warning in my Vanquish is pretty misleading. Even when the car is constantly on a CTEK charger, the warning comes up after spending some time playing around with the audio system. It was still showing the next day as well, but when I measured the battery voltage it was perfectly fine.

I think the car triggers the “low battery” warning simply after a certain amount of energy consumption while standing still, regardless of whether the battery is connected to a CTEK charger or not.

“ Usually “ the recond mode on CTEK’s is for already heavily discharged batteries rather than the usual car symbol mode which is what I usually leave mine in when not been driven.
When I took delivery of my new Dark Horse I plugged in the CTEK and it took a good 48 hours before the lights turned green .
I held out the temptation of pressing the recond mode though.

Maybe this is the case then. Haven’t tried starting it (won’t be getting it out for a week or two,) and just turned the key on to check all was well after 10 weeks or so standing.

I’ve switched the CTEK to just car mode (not recon) and it’s all green lights also. So maybe just one of those Aston quirks!

Although the cars tracker is off, TPMS off, and it’s been unlocked the whole time. Not sure what’s been draining battery.

Just want to ensure enough battery to be able to crank it for oil pressure before starting next week, plus avoid any silly electrical issues

This is just a guess but is an unlocked car still 'awake', ie computers ticking over?

It could be several things, but I'd mainly guess it's the security module "listening" for a remote key fob operation. Plus every time you open the door you wake the car up, and it takes 10 minutes or so for it to go back to sleep again.

Always used to happen on my Vanquish low battery power mode even when it had a new battery, not had it on my Vantage (yet) but would not worry about it.
