It's frustrating when you post something and immediately notice a mistake but have to wait for the anti-flooding filter while hoping you can edit it before the post is quoted.

Can the edit function be excluded from the anti-flooding feature?

Yes indeed. I often do just that. It annoys me greatly.

Because I'm not flooding anything.

You only have to wait about a minute if that, and any changes don't show up as an edit when you repost so can't see the problem.

You post your comment and then instantly spot a mistake, go to edit and and it refuses to let you.

But only for a few seconds.

Mind you time isn't an issue for me being retired smile

Yes, I do. But even then it's easy to miss things. Then after posting, you see them.
