Giulia 2 Litre Stop/Start Warning Light Fault

I have a 24 plate Giulia 2 litre with 10500 miles on the clock. It has a fault that the dealers can't appear to fix. The stop/start unavailable warning light comes of followed by the battery warning light, when you stop the car there is s strange humming sound from the middle of the bulkhead. It has been into the dealer under warranty and on advice from Alfa UK they replaced the water pump because of a sensor fault.
Three days later the fault is back. The battery has been checked and it is charging and the RAC diagnosed a communication fault on the alternator module, which apparently is caused by the water pump sensor?
Anybody had a similar problem or got any ideas?
