Another Battery Question
Discussion
In the case of a short/medium-term storage period where I want to disconnect the battery to save it (a new one) but can't be bothered actually taking it out of the car then refitting it, would just disconnecting the red/positive terminal be enough and then reconnecting it when I'm ready???
It’s worth firstly checking owners forums to see if the model has any known issues when disconnected from a battery for an extended period of time - Not uncommon for cars to magically lose key code programming, Headunits to go into theft protection mode and such.
Presumably it’s somewhere that the car is able to be left with the bonnet unlocked / open whilst the battery is disconnected - Again, I’ve encountered issues where even the manual key wouldn’t work on a completely dead battery and had to go crawling under the car to get to the bonnet latch from underneath - Not always possible on some cars!
If that is the case, is it also somewhere in reach of a power socket, as I’d suggest just connecting a battery maintainer and avoiding all of the foibles.
