Anyone done this yet? Does it take an age? I've been reading about long queues at airports but nobody seems to have stuck anything bike specific on youtube yet.

When did it come in?

I last used a ferry Sept 25 from UK to Netherland and return and there were no delays.

My last flights ware UK to Germany in Oct 25 and to Spain in Nov 25 and there was no extra queues or delays.

I've not done it yet, but LeShuttle want me there an hour before my booked departure and I guess that is to allow enough time to get through checks. I've been through an airport and already and my biometrics are captured, so hopefully my personal journey is quicker.

My friends were complaining endlessly about this recently in Belgium and France. My Girlfriend also had a seriously long queue entering and leaving Berlin airport.

I have a 1st class passport so wouldn't know myself...

I've done Le Shuttle three times and one flight since the October 'changes', didn't make the slightest difference for me TBH.

I think the whole 'queues and chaos' panic is just more tabloid hysteria.

It has happened at airports, usually because of systems offline, or IMHO, people unaware of how to put their passport on the scanner. rolleyes

It's not everywhere yet, just a certain percentage, but supposed to be soon.

Did you have to do biometrics at some point?

It's a dog slow departure anyway; should cause chaos there but would it be any worse?

Looks like it's mainly on leaving the ferry, I'm off to Santander 1st May - this is what Brittany Ferries have said...

Disembarking has been equally slow the last few times I've used the crossing and as it now looks like that's where the EES checks will be done I can see it taking even longer.

Back from Vienna where I had my fingerprints and picture taken on the way in and out, if this is going to happen at ferry ports it will mean huge delays as everyone has to get out of their vehicle or bikers off their bikes etc. for the checks. Even if they only do 10% the time taken will be significant.

I can see it all getting quite fractious at the ferry ports in the summer holidays.
