plexiglass windows

My Griff used to suffer from slow window syndrome, but now about half way down its more like no-go window sydrome (drivers side only and strangely worse in the cold weather than the summer - something must be expanding with the heat) - has anyone had or seen a thinner/more plyable plexiglass door window made or fitted and if so from where? Also would it be street legal if someone could make one?

Presumably motor get knackered from pushing gals round corners - bet it was never intended fo this windo pan - off some other car.

There are Perspex Windows around that are road legal for other cars, cost quite a bit though, could be even costlier (yes I know it's not a real word) to have on bespoke made.

It would get scratched everytime it went up and down. Not really practical for a road car.

Window motor is for griff had to send one from germany
for mine was £160 s/h wanted £100 i think, fixed mine was same fault.While its off worth packing gearbox with grease none left in mine which wore the motor out.

I have the same problem i.e a very slow drivers side window on the way up (summer or winter) Does anyone have a solution? Changing the glass seems a bit drastic! Who makes the motor and how difficult is it to get at? Thanks.

Same problem. Wired a battery direct and it raced up!!

So anyone any sparkes about who can tell me how to safely wire a better feed from the battery...

What I cant understand though is, why doesnt the passenger side suffer the same ?

My drivers side has only just started doing this. So much so I had to pull it up to get past the middle yesterday!

The fact that the passenger side runs perfectly confuses me.
They surely have the same supply and earth at the switches, so this means the wires/connectors running to the drivers side.
I just put a meter on mine and ran it down, it drags the voltage down to about 8 volts.
Maybe the wires are big enough to supply the required supply to this window.

I am sure Mr.Beer will be along soon..........

Usually cos it doesn't get used so much. Mine went slower and slower due to the motor wearing out. Got a replacement from a scrapped Chimaera. The motor is not available on its own and has to be bought with the mechanism. Please ignore the itsa from Ford/Citroen/Audi etc as the motor is a specific Bosch unit and as I said ain't avaialble on its own.

I have only been going on about this for years ! Just before the wires go into the door there is a plug, at this point you can add a relay and they will fly up. The wiring into the door is fine, its the wire from the switches to this point that is "TVR".

So ,David , how does the relay work when the switch reverses the polarity of the feed to the motor?

Mine is a little different as mine drop down when the door opens, Cerby style. I will take a look at doing a diagram, you only need the "power" in the up direction, the relay would not be used in the downwards direction. So the coil to either pos or neg would only be activated when the other side was to the opposite, i think that makes sense !

A diagram would be very helpful. Could you please explain why adding a relay will fix the problem? Will putting more voltage/power through an old or worn motor not make matters worse. If I go for this mod,what relay should be used and where would I get one from? RS Comp ? Maplin? Do you recommend adding a relay to both sides. Thanks.

The reason for using a relay is the wire supplying the motor isnt up to powering it.

The relay can have an alternative feed, helping the situation, much like Davids brighter lights kit.

However I still dont understand why we only see the problem on the drivers side. Is the relay mod masking something else?

I agree if it is only an electrical problem and not mechanical, it does seem odd that only on the drivers side has the problem.

Strange mine is only slow on the passenger side allways one that has to be different.. yet to do the relay mod...

You better make it a very easy to understand
