I was tipped of on this one and didn't believe what the suggestion was to this happening, but I have been looking on Autotrader to replace my Mini Cooper JCW anyway. What I did notice was load of the Dacia Spring 2025 EVs showing and loads of them. Not planning on buying one, but this listing cought my attention

It's done 8000 miles and has 2 previous owners. If it was the only car like this with more than 2 owners in around a year. Not impossible for sure, but rather odd that the next owner would be the 3rd owner?

Actually seems overpriced imo, needs to be nearer £7k.
For £2500 more can get a brand new facelift extreme version with 100hp and much better to drive, full 7 year warranty etc.

First line of the description says "Discover the 2025 Dacia Spring 65 EXTREME, a brand new electric vehicle ready for its first owner."
The fact that such a new car is for sale in a generic used car place would ring alarm bells with me. I always want to know the story, although it often sounds made up anyway. Apparently a lot of nearly-new EV are Motability early returns, but then they'd only have one previous owner.
With a newish EV you really want the manufacturer / franchise dealer back up - if they go wrong they can be off the road for a while so you don't want to me messed around without a courtesy car etc.

You seam to be reading the wrong link, the car has 8000mile and 2 owners. The other posters link is for a pre-reg with 140miles for 2.5k moreThe fact that such a new car is for sale in a generic used car place would ring alarm bells with me. Nope - clicked your link. 8000 mile car, that the description says is brand new.I was completely unaware of this model of car until clicking this thread, but am just astonished that anyone would buy one at any price.
It looks like it is on stilts, I almost thought it still has its transport blocks in the springs, but that's apparently what they look like.
Handles like a giraffe on ice and has a one star Euro NCAP safety rating. It's a no from me!

I don't think 3 owners in under a year is that big of a deal
Back in 2004 I bought a car from Mercedes Benz UK,
they'd been using the car as a run around but were getting rid after it was just 4 weeks old and had 800 miles on the clock,
they said they were selling because it was being replaced with the new updated model of the same car, I didn't much care because they let me have it for less than 2/3rds of the price of a new one,
I ran it for a few months and decided I was bored so traded it in for an AMG, which means it was on its 3rd owner by the time it reached 6 months old

That £9k 2018 audi a4 would probably score zero stars against same ncap criteria. And will be even higher up on a greenflag recovery truck. And not as hilarious to drive either. 2 owners is easily explained by it being a pre-reg, followed by a 1st "long term" owner having it for a year then moving it on. Its still quite soon to sell that age car though.
I've not driven one, but the Dacia Spring is interesting in that its the car equivalent of "the wheel is turning but the hamster isn't in it". Not quite there in terms of being a "proper" car for a lot of people, meaning that its appeal is very limited, to those who literally need a small/cheap car to tootle around town in, or to nip to the shops once or twice a week. Or a really undemanding commute and no longer trips.
The Citroen Ami is a much more extreme example of that use case, and I believe it actually does quite well in some limited geographical areas - because its not trying to be anything else than what you see is what you get. At least that doesn't (and cannot) make any claims about being a proper car, because its a different class of machine altogether.

I do some professional work for a large regional self-drive hire business.
They’ve taken a number of pre-reg EV’s from the big dealer groups and then they’ve come through United, when they run them on their own fleets before handing them back at circa twelve months.
Surprised to see one out of the main dealer network though.
