Popped into the Rivian store Boston. Didn’t expect to see the R2, yet, but impressive fit and finish on the rest of the range. The pre production reviews on uTube have been very good including Mat Watson. It’s coming to UK in 2027 and fills a space in the rugged SUV market with solid performance and range. Have to say it would get me out of the model Y.

They look absolutely mega. Shame no 7 seat or jump seat option but I suppose it would steal sales in the US. If there was a new car that floated my boat it would be one of these. I expect it to be super dear when it lands over here.

If MW rates this over a model Y, then it must be bloody good, he's one of the few reviewers who doesn't let prejudice of the tesla brand affect his reviews.

I think it’s gonna be a big hit. About the right size and range and price.

MW is a clown! I wouldn't trust his reviews as far as I could throw him.

I do like the look of the Rivians though and think they'd do well in Europe. All the Chinese manufacturers might put a dent in their potential sales though.

I too like the design language of Rivian. Do they have the capacity to supply Europe?

The R2 is seriously impressive. It plays to the greatest strengths of BEV and adopts the benefits of everything the R1 has achieved in real world use.

I expect that before it's widely sold in Europe, and especially before it reaches the UK... a very similar spec vehicle will emerge from the China/South Korea and take the sales in our part of the world. It's an almost perfect package and its bound to be replicated.

My first BEV was an iPace and I loved it because it did everything I could desire. It was a drivers car on demand, it was a luxury car, it had a huge load space with the rear seats folded, it was fast, it was efficient, it could go off-road, it could wade. The R2 is the first car since the iPace that I'm seriously interested in smile

Best of luck to Rivian as a brand in general, but I do think that whatever they design/innovate/prove will soon enough be effortlessly replicated in the East and sold back to the West.
