My wife is after a replacement for our 16 plate Hyundai Sante Fe. The car has done 100k and is the 2.2 diesel auto. It's a great car but feels tired now. I test drove the new Sante Fe and liked it though my wife wasn't keen on the looks.

She likes the RR sport but I feel a 20 plate would need a decent warranty on it and the insurance is about £2k. Plus I've heard lots off issues with the 2.0 engine. Is the hybrid 2.0 the same engine?

We also test drove a byd seal u, I was impressed with this but she again keeps looking at a RR sport

Avoid the 2.0 engines, they have weak timing chain guides and will cause you a headache. The hybrid is the same engine, except with the added complexity of the hybrid system as well.

There will be a noticeable jump in running cost coming from a 2.2d to any luxury SUV so be aware.

If you like your Santa Fe how about a Kia Sorrento?
