Over an hour to get through after landing and over an hour and a half back out

New system where they take finger prints and photos kin front of the white board really slowed it down

Young guy said it's been horrific since the new EU rules came in 4 months ago

Didn't our great leader come back from Brussels with a deal on sausages and faster travel for Brits?

This rule has been coming in for years, and as we're no longer in the EU we're caught by it regardless.

Yet another of those Brexit dividends we were told about...lost track of how many we've had so far! wink

I certainly didn’t. I’ve yet to find one single aspect of my life that has been improved by Brexit.

Actually there is one - EU motoring fines from your own car don’t follow you home.

Not sure it's to do with Brexit, EU also had to go through the same process, look at the photo

If anything, we got the Brexit bonus, back in UK, border control quick scan of passport and on you go mate, 5 mins!

I'm pretty sure Brexit made a huge difference.

We have friends in Maastricht and the difference between getting through Schipol passport control pre and post-Brexit was noticeably different. The last time we went it took almost an hour.

I travel a lot and post Brexit everything seems to take much longer at borders. My European friends ask me why did the U.K. vote for Brexit, they think we were stupid.

But sovereignty, sunlit uplands and all that jazz eh..!!

Seems to be a choice for the airport and as customers wether EU citizens or not, just have to accept horrendous customer service.

I flew from Brussels last year and they allowed UK, Canada and US citizens to use the EU qué, they just had a 2 gents at the end with their stamp. Piece of piss to get through. Made absolute sense, gets everyone through quicker, take the dozens/hundreds of British and US people from the rest of the world and it gets the Chinese, Japanese and everyone else sail through quicker as well.

Airports and flying are a god awful experience that I drive to France now for my holidays. I'll fly when I absolutely need to.

1) This policy explicitly applies ONLY to non-EU travellers who don't need a visa. So it IS 100% to do with Brexit, your self-delusion notwithstanding.

2) That existed anyway...they were ironing the bugs out of the automated gates during Brexit.

It took me an hour and a half at Schipol on a Tuesday morning a few months before this was implemented.

I won't be hurrying back to fly through there.

I had a long wait at the airport in Luxembourg recently while waiting for everyone to be fingerprinted. The red-faced loud-mouthed man behind me in the queue kept shouting at security and telling then (I'm paraphrasing here) what a useless bunch they were. He almost got himself arrested several times. I was amazed by the restraint of the staff there. And he looked exactly the type who would have voted leave.

Look, I was tired and emotional but you're quite right, I did.

I thought there were no checks for EU citizens - is it because the flight came from the UK?

Similar in Berlin last week - 2 hours at entry - I wasn’t even near the back - and it was first thing Monday morning.

Saw pics and reports of 4 hour queues on Friday afternoon on Instagram.

Brexit benefits......the average IQ of EU citizens rose dramatically on the day we left.

I don't know if it was the full suite of what they're implementing, but I went through an automated machine that took my photo and fingerprints when I flew into Munich in December (prior to going through the "normal" man-in-a-booth pathway), and it only took a few minutes.

Does that mean I'm "on the books" for future EU trips or what?

Back in Germany in a month or two so I guess I'll find out.

Yes, same system each time you visit, but this time it will only take your picture, because it knows it has your finger prints.

Good to know, thanks.

I assume being a known entity already does not, however, make the line I'm in go any faster.

Will see how it goes, I suppose.
