"Background
You were a member of a WhatsApp group titled ‘Selbie Gumshoes’ together with other
members of your MSOC team.
Allegation 1
On Tuesday the 31st of December 2024, a conversation started about someone winning
a bottle of whiskey which still had a security tag attached. You replied at 22.53 hours “Was
this a raffle on a certain kind of site? Lots of mobile type homes? Lots of ‘Dags’”. You sent
a further message at 22.54 hours saying, “You are the MSOC liaison”

Why does any cop post dodgy jokes on Whatsapp groups? Worth losing your job for?

For the avoidance of doubt any Irish Travellers I have ever had any dealings with have been as honest as the day is long. Proper respectable members of society.

Firstly, some low life grassed him up.

Secondly, who is likely to be offended by this? Certainly not the subjects of the messages, they're literally proud of what they're like. It's their life...!

The police as an organisation are a joke. Have been for a while. More interested in protecting the feelings of those who give absolutely zero fks about anyone but themselves and who are a complete scourge on society, rather than upstanding members of society who go out every day trying to do a good job with both hands tied behind their backs.

It’s the 99.9% of bad ones what spoil it for the rest.

Unless this WhatsApp group was used for official work purposes and/or someone was forced to participate in the ‘conversations’ against their will, I can’t see what the reason for dismissal was?

Holding views that may offend or (more to the point) possibly pretending to hold them for comic purposes, in situations that are intended to be private is surely of no relevance to employment?

It would be different and have relevance to this case if something clearly illegal was going on, but half the country will have equivalent ‘off colour’ material on things like their WhatsApp chats.

I wonder how close the cop was to pensionable age. The police seems to be going after long serving cops for trivial causes of misconduct.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when institutions are terrified to stand up to the bed wetting, hand wringing libtards. See also the pathetic simping on the trans community.

It seems the chat group was a group of other Police officers in the Major Serious and Organised Crime team.

You really can't be a serving Police Officer and be caught talking about people with other officers using that sort of language.

Imagine the field day a defence team would have if DC Luker was the key prosecution witness on a case involving someone from that community and those messages landed on their desk and they got to ask Luker what his views were?

Probably fair to ask whether dismissal was the only option available but the idea you can and should turn a blind eye if someone brings that sort of behaviour to your attention is for the birds.

That sort of behaviour?

Everyone knows what the traveller community are about, (the police more than anyone).
I've had a run-in with them myself.
And two cops (one ex, one serving) I know, haven't got a good word to say about them. And that's putting it mildly.

On the behaviour front they're picking on the wrong guys here.

It's the specific word.

Type the word in on here and it gets censored - the fact you can use it in thread titles is just an oddity of the way the forums work.

Close friend of mine really attractive woman worked in Police intelligence, she said it was like being back in the 70's sexist comments and loads of banter, she loved the closeness of her colleagues and it was only banter which went both ways......

So true, I am Irish decent and won't consider dealing with them whether buying or selling cars.

They like other protected species have used laws to their advantage to the detriment of the rest.

If you provide the tools someone will use them and stretch the material they are working with to its utmost limits.

Too late now to reverse.

Can't see a problem with the word myself. It's far less demeaning and/or outrageous than the acts that particular scourge carry out.
