So we are going to Dubai a week on Tuesday for a bit of sun.

I am starting to wonder if we will be able to go with Mr Trump looking for a fight with Iran.
We don’t really want to get caught up in a conflict of some sort.

Would you go or try and cancel to be on the safe side?

I'd go.

At the very worst the flights might be re-routed a little.

Won't be an issue. The last couple of times there was to and fro between Israel and Iran, there was disruption over Iraq and Jordan. Flights to UAE will be fine.

Managed to cancel 2 hotels without a charge just waiting on the last one getting back to me, happy so far as I booked without a cancellation policy in place.

Emirates are being a bit vague at the moment at the flight is only due Tuesday morning.

Either way we are not going now it’s all kicked off.

I wonder if this will affect the ‘tax free safe haven to stash and invest money ‘ that everyone seems to go on about. Could be a mass exodus of commission only estate agents soon.

Both my kids are out there at the moment for a few days to see their cousin - due back Monday night but I suspect that they may be delayed by a day or two.

Rockets hitting the Fairmont on the Palm. Pretty crazy stuff.

Just seen the footage - my two are about 20 minutes from the Palm. Bit worried, I won’t lie.

They’re intercepting the missiles, but debris are falling to the ground. Madinat Hind Airforce Base was getting repeatedly hit earlier, some of the surrounding communities like Dubai Hills have had debris fall on them.

This is worse than any of the other escalations we’ve had over the past few months/years. Even if it’s a flash in the pan, postponing vacation plans is a sensible decision.

That's going to bring it home to a few people who've only ever known war on the TV.

Insurance companies are going to be crying into their small print.

Was originally heading over there next month. Have just switched to the US instead, when rockets are taking out hotels it looks a bit dicey.

My brother in law flew into Dubai yesterday. As soon as they heard things were getting hot they went back to the airport and got a flight to Kerala in India… they’re going to stop there for a few days to see how things pan out and then possibly work there way home via another route… they’re were travelling independently so no travel firms involved.

Most insurance companies have a clause that excludes acts of war (regardless of whether war declared or not) so I suspect the insurance companies will be fine.

In fairness, it's not Tuesday yet biggrin Anyway, who trusts what some random on the internet says?

I'm in the region at the moment and it's obviously been fairly consequential. We'll see.
