Found lots of rust on car bought yesterday
Discussion
Picked up a used Mondeo yesterday and when i got it home and was having a good look around it I noticed a load of rust on the bottom of the drivers inside door.
I also checked the other doors after this and the passenger front door is bubbling but the two rears are ok.
I’ve sent pictures to the dealer as soon as I got home yesterday but they haven’t looked at them.
The car was from a Ford dealer and is a 69 plate Mondeo with 58k miles.
I also had issues with the cruise control, front collision system and hill hold assist errors come up on the drive home which meant I had no cruise control.
I am really concerned I’ve bought a Friday afternoon car and that if they repair the rust issues it will just keep returning as it’s obviously rusting from inside the door out.
What are your thoughts.
Should I just reject the car or persevere.

The previous couple of generations of mondeo had excellent rust protection so seeing rust on them was a good indicator they were hiding a hard life.
It seems fair to assume the same with this one there is no way it should be anywhere near as bad as that unless it has had some low quality body repairs or its spent the last 6 years launching a boat into saltwater.

Thais for the replies.
It’s a 2019 69 plate with full history and 58k miles.
I placed a deposit two weeks ago and dealer has done some work to it before I collected it including full service, new mot, new front discs and pads and wheel refurb.
I think it’s been someone’s company car.
I paid £12995 which is about right for it.
The dealer is 100 miles away from me and seemed genuine enough
I had loads of lights come on on the dash when I tried to see the cruise control for the first time on the drive home. Probably should have turned around there and then but instead phoned the dealer and the sales guy sounded shocked and said he would get their warranty person to ring me to sort out a repair under warranty at my local garage.
Then when I got it home I found all the rise so phoned again and got asked to send photos over to their what’s app number which I did but no one has looked at them.
They replaced rear high level brake light as part of the prep as the boot floor was wet.
Had some rain last night and there are spots of water in the boot again as they look like they are coming off the boot seal so don’t think the leak is sorted either.

Is the vehicle on finance?
Based on what you have said, then this sits well within the short term right to reject - satisfactory quality and as described. Rust in itself would be debatable, but with leak and the electrical gremlins thrown in to the mix, then it s sufficient grounds.
