donnigton track day?

Any body hear going on a track day to donnigton this friday? its not a tvr one but anything goes, i'm gonna give it a go, i've been on a few track days with my bike but never in a car, i just no there's gonna be lotus elise's and scooby's trying to get by while i'm swinging a big side ways slide (ouch!) i hope its not gonna be an expensive day off work. i'm thinking the things a bit of a hanfull on the road so god nows wot its going to be like on the track and i'm running standard shocks at that, think i'll try and take it easy, yea right!

Just take it easy and you will have a great day. Donington is a fantastic circuit to be out on, nice and wide, good run-off (if the worst should happen) with some lovely sweeping bends to master!
Start off slow, get some instruction if possible on the 'best lines', and keep it all nice and smooth.

The corner to watch is the last right/left on to the start/finish straight, many RWD cars have bounced down the pit wall

Keep your foot in at Craners - don't pussy about - tight to left and drift to centre b4 pulling back left hard fro the old hairpin.

That's easy for you to say - you need balls of steel not to lift through there - a high risk strategy first time out me'thinks!

I was once told that most people turn in too early for most corners at Donington - guess this is the case at a lot of tracks, but it's particularly the case at Redgate (1st corner).

As Raceboy says, watch the last corner - seen many pirouettes in front of the grandstand there.

MMMM! fast and smooth and flat for craner's lol. i'll do my best to up hold the tvr badge and not get slaughterd even though its not a race although a few of the guys i'm going with have had a propper ass kicking from me on the bikes and seem to think my 5ltr's gonna bite me at donno, only one thing thats going to put me off is the rain and come friday morning if its raining i'm gonna give it a miss because the thing spins in 3rd and 4th under full throttle in the wet and thats not my idea of fun, fingers crossed for the weather and donna hear i come. nice.

Looked like a fun day, had a great day yesterday on what must be the worlds cheapest trackday, £5 for a full day at Donington
Not a massive amount of track time but enough for the tyres to be looking a little worn now, Redgate is great fun

we had an open pit lane from 9-430 because there weren't many there, couldn't of picked a better day to go, at 1 point in the day it felt like i was the only car on track, lap after lap and not a car in sight, how funny's this though i went with a scooby (started missfireing, called it a day) cupra r ( cooked brakes, called it a day) and the guy in the elise bless him started it up in gear in the car park and rammed a post so the old tvr was the only one to make it through the day, jellison i'm going 2 sort my shocks and springs out as well and i thought my day was cheap! 5 squid for donno. bargain my freind.

great circuit. My profile shot is from donnington. I assume you also had to do the shortened circuit with the building work going on? Enter through the pit garages?

The good thing about donnington is that the corners are plentiful enough to allow the Elises to be good fun, yet wide enough and not too sharp so the older Griffs and Chim TVRs can also have a ball around there. Perfect choice would be a T350/sagaris or noble to give a perfect balance, but then again what track wouldnt they!

Went to the kit car show on Saturday, and there was a green chim flying round. Giving a good account of its self too, lapping a Honda S2000 and pulling a way from a spiritedly driven 911. Anyone on here?
