My 24 year old son is coming to the end of a 12 month driving ban for a drug driving offence (DG-10). He has no points on his licence and a 6 year NCD. What might be be expected to pay ball park to renew his comprehensive insurance cover?

Also, he can start driving again from 29-Apr 26 - how early before that date can he apply for a new licence?

Many thanks all

Impossible for anyone to answer this as depends on a myriad of things including but not limited to postcode ,car itself etc.
You ( or he ) need to google and try some specialised brokers rather than meerkats.
The likes of Keith Michaels get mentioned whenever this comes up.

This. Plus the Govt. website should say about an application date. I would have thought now should be OK. See here

Disqualification for drink or drug driving
You can reapply for your provisional or full driving licence before your disqualification period ends.

DVLA will send you a D27 renewal form:

56 days before your disqualification ends
90 days before your disqualification ends if you’re a high risk offender
Fill in the form and send it to DVLA with the driving licence fee. You’ll be told if you need to send a new passport-style photo in the D27 renewal form.

If you do not get your renewal form in the post, you can get form D1 or D2 from a Post Office that offers DVLA services.

To renew your licence for:

a car or motorcycle use form D1
a lorry or bus use form D2
