I imagine the Insurers ( assuming it was even insured ) might not take too kindly to that claim as would equally imagine that it would contravene all the terms and conditions and warranties applied !

It obviously wasn't an actual "Faberge Egg" which are more like £20 million each and are rarely auctioned.

The "eggs" for sale are of course Faberge tributes retailing around the £100k mark:

It all sounds like a very sketchy publicity effort using an Algerian Patsy:

"The Irish Craft Whiskey Company has a partnership with Fabergé and together produced a bottle of 'Emerald Isle' whiskey which sold for $2.8million at auction making it the world's most expensive bottle of whiskey ever sold."

In fact if you dig into the company a little further it appears they sell almost no whiskey at all, hardly any reviews, everything listed on their website either sold out or POA lol.
