That's the lithium lightweight battery. Out of interest did you have yours on a CTEK charger or similar?

My lithium went on my Cayenne when 4 years old. Porsche paid in the end. The bill was £1400!

For a / year old 911 I would be having stern words as unless you know it has spent half its life flat I should last 5 years plus if agm and 10 if lithium.

Porsche don't warrant batteries on low miles - less than 6k pa - cars but I would be surprised if they stick to thr if you have stern words.

A friend recently had an issue with a Lithium battery in his 992.1 S, failed to charge/went flat. Porsche advised him there was a technical recall on some of them.

They collected the car and resolved the problem. I don't know if that was a BMS software update to the charging and/or a new battery, but worth a call to see if yours is affected and covered.

Hi not on Ctec and yes low miles always taken on a good drive every week. Initial warning was Electrical fault message in the
PCM. Car currently seems ok - in for service Friday so will see.
Thanks for replies

Mine died on the ferry over to Spain last September. It’s a 992.1 model. It’s always kept on a CTek LiFePO charger. Went into OPC on return and identified a known fault, has been kept on the charger since and so far so good. However I keep getting a message about PCM can only be used when battery fully charged when I switch off, so not convinced it has completely gone away, time will tell.

I had the battery update (recall) done on my 2023 GTS last week while it was in getting its MOT, I’ve never had an issue with the battery and I tend to hook it up to a ctek charger if I’m not going to be using it for more than a week (which is quite regularly as I work away on a rota), I do sometimes leave the car in airport carparks for up to 3 weeks and have never had a problem starting, I do remove the Dashcam and also have a noco boost pack just I case!
I also get the PCM message when I turn the ignition off and this has been the case since day 1 so I assume it’s just a generic warning.

Hi battery update - service carried out PCM recall update carried out re battery. What I noticed the battery charge showing in the binacle was 14.6 before update, after PCM update is down to 13.5 if that’s makes sense? No further warning messages.
It would seem anyone not had the PCM update needs to have it carried out.
