Has anyone backed to backed the above and noticed any ride quality improvements between the two on road?

Nope but I do have BBS FI-R’s and OEM wheels on my 991.2 which I do swap over….might be the placebo effect but I do think there’s a very slight difference in how the car rides. Obviously only something you’d notice immediately after change and on a road you know well.

They’re about half the weight saving of the PCCB’s.

Stunning wheel and interesting. Maybe not a major difference but a small improvement

Reduced ‘unsprung’ weight (the mass of the vehicle not supported by the suspension) has a number of benefits, inc reduced NVH and improved ride comfort, because the suspension reacts more quickly to changes in the road surface, allowing the tyres to maintain better contact.

The combination of ceramic brakes and lwt wheels should provide the most noticeable difference.

This was brought to my attention 20 years ago, in a racing environment, and then further confirmed, in road use, by Geoff Turral when he was head of Porsche GB.
I ran a 996.1 GT3 on steels against a 996.2 GT3 on the then Gen1 pccbs and there was a noticeable improvement in road refinement.

For these and other reasons, I’ve specified pccbs since, specifically for road use.

Thanks, it’s funny as PPCBs give the impression they’re for the ultimate fade free track performance but for many they seem to be best applied for road use to deliver the above benefits. And avoid high replacement cost when used on track meaning track cars are often on steels!
