I'm minded to fit my (soon to be delivered) Larini exhaust to my 111R (being a reasonably competent DIYer).

One point is that in removing the rear wheels I'll need to use the rear jacking points in raising the rear end. I'll then need to swap the trolley jack for axle stands. Is there any special technique for this - i.e. how 'wide/long' is the jacking area? Advice appreciated....

Also I'm assuming replacement of the exhaust is relatively straightforward but again are there any pitfalls/hurdles to overcome? Thanks.

Hi - no great hassle with jacking - raise the car on the jacking point - mid-way along the side of the car at the edge of the undertray (clearly marked). Lift the side of the car and then put the axle stand in place at the rear axle & lower the jack carefully.

I installed my Larini only jacking up the left rear side - gave me enough access to remove the undertray and get to the cat bolts etc. I did not raise the right of the car at all. The cat bolts were a bl**dy nightmare (rusted to bits), but I hope you have better luck. Angle grinder to cut them off in my case. I removed the left rear wheel to do this. Whole job was ~ 90 min, half of which was spent getting the cat bolts off. Get a power screwdriver / drill to remove the undertray bolts - reduces this to a 2 min job. Only the rear undertray need be removed.

Good luck - also, make sure you have the right fittings / bolts / gaskets etc.

You dont need to remove the rear wheel on the 111r to fit the exhaust.

Just reverse the car up a set of ramps remove the undertray then its reasonably straight forward to replace.

Yes, reasonably straight forward, as I didnt skin my knucles or have to attack the car with a crowbar in a fit of rage.

Reverse the car up a set of ramps remove the rear under tray and have a look its just a bit of a fiddle trying to get the new exhaust in but it will be easier if you have a willing assistant!

Does anyone have a procedure for replacing the exhaust on my 111R.

I've removed the undertray and things seem straightforward other than the left hand silencer retaining bolts are difficult to reach. Is it better to disconnect the cat pipe from the manifold and remove the assembly complete rather than just the silencer....

Also when fitting the sports exhaust, is it necessary (or wise) to use jointing paste on the connection to the cat pipe?
