I also have a tale of cooked knobs.
Last summer was out with for a country drive when I came upon an interesting looking pub.
After refreshments and food I returned to the Cerb to find that the blazing sun had rendered my own knob too hot to touch.
I had nothing in the car with which to cool it so sat for a moment looking at its shiny end hoping for a flash of inspiration.
Back into the pub for some help.
I selected the main bar and announced that I was experiencing problems with my TVR in the car park.
Behind the bar was a not to unattractive barmaid, so directing my request at her I asked, “Could you be kind enough to lend me a dampened beer towel?”
“Whatever for?” she replied.
“Oh it’s my knob, you see it’s got so hot that I am unable to touch it, and am therefore unable to get out of the car park”
Cue uproar of laughter and red face for the barmaid.
Anyhow got the towel and draped it over the offending article for a few minutes, arrrrr, that’s better, and after returning the towel to the still glowing girl behind the bar I made good my escape.
Nick.
Only had a quick peek as I could not sleep, felt I had to share that one.
