Not sure if this topic has been raised before (apologies if it has) regarding organised fighting between schools, apparently sweeping across the country via social media. Kids are being encouraged to use weapons for extra points. A couple of links to news coverage

A bit of research shows that fortunately these seem to be being ignored and no sizeable events have occurred.

Initially I thought what absolute scumbag would come up with this??? Then I thought about bad actors ie Russia, N Korea, China, Iran actively trying to disrupt our way of life is this the kind of thing we should be expecting as attacks???

Are the young people these days so useless they can’t even organise their own school fights?

I appreciate your comment was probably light hearted but my suggestion is that the vast majority dont want top fight and all of this is simply someone on the internet trying to see themselves in the headlines by being the one who came up with the idea. (Not necessarily by name.)

The messaging has done the rounds in SW London. I don’t have the time to read those articles this morning but you do wonder quite what is behind this utter horse plop.

Leave the kids alone ffs.

They normally stick to other types of st stirring like Scottish independence.

For this stuff it's more likely to be either good old trolling a la 4Chan, or some bottom scraping journo(s) having a prod to create a new story. Most of these social media driven things seem suspiciously likely to end up in the tabloids regardless of how many people actually noticed them in reality.

It is doing the rounds, local to us this week. My kids ignored it, said it was stupid. Lots of parents keeping their kids off school this week.

Floating around Cardiff to. Starting today supposedly. Pretty sad that it's likely an adult behind this.

Indeed. I left school in 82. It was perfectly normal to organise a punch up with another school if there was nothing else fun to do

All the kids have gone away
Gone to fight with next door’s school
Every term that is the rule

It's a win for getting further restrictions implemented on the Internet. Almost like it's...

Failing that, a game of Rugby usually did the trick.

I think this thread perfectly demonstrates the difference between those ppl who live in the normal world and those who really need to.

In the 1980s my comprehensive school marched on Lancing College at the end of each term, and waved our fists as they were whisked to safety in their parent's Volvos and Range Rovers.

We celebrated our short term victory. They were happy in knowing that their long term life prospects exceeded ours, and no-one got hurt.
