Hi, being a non DIY person, can anyone help me with how I can fill this gap easily at the bottom of our fireplace?
I am going to replace the beige hearth with a same size nice granite one and then probably add a bio-ethanol stove but just not sure of the best way to fill the smallish gap, it needs to be the same level as the hearth and is about 60mm deep.
I saw a product called Ever Build One Strike Filler which looks like it may do the job?
If it fills it ok I was I was planning to then paint it black and then the stove will be sat on top.

Or should I bite the bullet and get a T-shaped granite hearth and just cover the gap?

Any help much appreciated.

I would go for fitting the hearth into the space. Filler will take forever and look, er, less neat.

Fill it with sand and stick another slab of stone or porcelain over the top.

Tile adhesive to height, nice patterned tiles and grout?

Don't go t shaped. Use two pieces grouted. A single T is more likely to crack due to differential heating and expansion rates.

Thanks all for the replies.
We're on a really tight budget so I think I will avoid the T shaped hearth then, it's nearly £500, money which can be used for other things like blinds etc.
Filling it with sand could be a good idea, no mess and then just a bit of suitable stone on top.
