I've a 2014 V6 Diesel Cayenne.

Sometimes there is a slight delay when I turn the key for the car to start - also happens when the start / stop is active. I'm assuming it's my battery on the way out? Or would it be a starter motor?

Thanks

Diesels I've owned (all BMWs) would pre-heat before starting during cold weather. It would show a pre-heating symbol on the dash before starting up. It's only a very slight delay (less than a second), so could that be what you're experiencing?

Is that the curly line thing? If so, I usually wait until it's gone out - as you say, only takes a second.

The struggle to start happens pretty much all the time - even after a longish journey and the start stop is in effect.

The start stop doesn't seem to work until the car has warmed up.

A bit of research also suggests it could be the ground strap needing replaced?

Got the battery checked at Kwik Fit - it was reading at 12.30v but he said it needed charged so they could do a retest.

It could be a number of things. It is easy to diagnose the issue with a multimeter.

FWIW 12.3 volts is fairly rubbish if that is what it reads when it has been running for a while.

A fully charged healthy battery reads more like 12.6 or 7 volts & as a rule of thumb every 0.1v is a loss of around 10/15% charge.

Just make sure when you do that you check & double check that the earth strap connection to the engine/bulkhead is good.
