Mrs zeros ipad is at the end of its days... 8 years old. I posted the other day it was running slow. Now its stopped charging. I bought a new usb port for it and took the screen off (what fun) and replaced the port - it seemed ok but its now not charging again.

So for now I ordered her a cheap tablet.

The tablet is used for scrolling and watching content on netflix / amazon. However she also watches old shows off our NAS.

But going forward I would like to be able to put these shows on an SD card and this means she can watch these anywhere and also not network dependant now she is outside of the walled garden of apple and also has more than 64gb to play with.

Is there an app that allows you to resume watching and can understand my naming conventions? She currently uses infuse which works - but its old hat I suspect.

Is there anything more modern that allows this sort of library system / resume playing etc??

Install Plex and point it at the SD card.

For offline playback, try Nova Video Player.

VLC is my traditional go-to, and I know for certain it will build a library off the SD vard no problem at all, because that's what I do with it. biggrin

I think this is how I will have to go cant get Plex to work - tried for over an hour. They dont seem to do plex server for andriod so would have to host off device which defeats the point.

VLC working ok but it does not really work as a library properly - its just like windows so you end up with episode 1, 10,11,12 etc

Probably the best suggestion in this use case in my opinion.

There's a bit of set-up to point it at the correct directories/file paths, but that's a one-off thing to do and in reality won't take more than 2 minutes even if you've not used Nova before.

It'll catalogue everything and build a library, with artwork, synopsis, episode titles, numbers etc
Supports Watched/Next/Resume etc etc etc

Cheers sounds perfect will have a look at that tonight, I tried VLC and that worked ok but does lack the "shiny" bits.
