I have used Insure and Go for a number of years for my yearly travel insurance policy as they cover pretty much everything as well as mountain biking holidays - last time ask they cover cycling as long as there was no racing . Unfortunately it looks like they now don’t cover mountain biking or road riding, only the use of a bike for getting about town. Any recommendations that still cover a actual riding holiday?

I use Cedar Tree, same deal, all covered except for racing. I think there might be a clause about being over a certain altitude too, but it’s not a concern for most.
I usually then take out a Laka policy to cover my bike for the duration of the trip.

We always used Snowcard for our French and Spanish MTB holidays. Only had to call on the policy once when a pal tumbled into a ravine and hurt himself badly, and the support from Snowcard (and the Spanish hospitals) was top notch.

Doesn't help with MTBing trips but my policy with Admiral says it covers:

So good for road riding including sportives.

Renewal this year was £23.

Nationwide Flexplus travel insurance covers cycling and Mountain biking – other than trails graded as easy or moderate. I only know this when I was checking it on the way to the hospital after cutting the end of my finger off last summer biggrin

Cycling on uneven ground?

So road riding in the UK is out then.

Seems a bit ambiguous and a nice get out of jail card for the Insurance co.

We use sports cover direct. Covers mountain biking as long as there is some uphill. Also includes biking with some uplifts as well.

If it's a one off trip then Snowcard springs to mind

If you do a range of outdoor activities then annual multitrip cover with British Mountaineering Council might fit the bill

Cycling organisations such as British Cycling and Cycling UK (used to be CTC) only seem to offer third party with add ons for bike cover.

If you're doing MTB, Morzine (& PDS) and Les2Alpes both offer insurance with the lift pass.

I pay Natwest £10 a month for a Silver Account, 1 of the benefits is travel insurance, they used to offer an MTB and other sports upgrades for £60 a year, haven't used it for 2 years since Morzine/PDS started offering insurance with lift pass though, so may have changed.

Thought I'd continue this thread rather than start a new one.

I'm also looking for holiday insurance for riding, however I'm planning on taking my own bike. Looking at standard policies a lot don't have the kind of cover that would include the right value for the bike if it was damaged during the flights. I've looked at bike insurance policies but they don't seem to do cover for a single trip but yearly policies.

Wondering whether it's worth the hassle at this stage. Anybody had a similar situation?

Just paid £80 for 8 days cover with "pedal cover" for my MTB holiday in july at Morzine.

Covers downhill, including racing, as long as not a professional.

I assume this is about the going rate? Its certainly double to cost of snowboarding, but winter cover seems a standard add on, not many holiday insurance companies seem to cover downhill mtb!

And my UK bike insurer will cover the bike in europe for an extra £1, plus a £20 admin fee banghead
