Hi, is Marshall's Weatherpoint still the best?

Discussed in some detail over on this thread.

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I should add that I did mine at the time I was active on that thread. I went old-skool and did a wet mix of mortar. Took me two full afternoons to do our 22 sq metre patio and afterwards I felt like I'd been hit by a truck with all the manual work involved.

These brush-in materials often get slated for not lasting as long as mortar, but they are very popular because of their ease of application. I think I'd rather re-do it once every five years with that, than subject myself to mortaring again!

Hhhmmm, yes I've done both in the past
The Weatherpoint can get blown out with a fairly gentle power washer, 1:3 mortar holds better but can still come out and is more difficult to get into the slabs without staining. One of my locations is Indian stone paving the other concrete.

If you do use sweep in stuff, don't just sweep it in. Force/pack it in, use some plastic tubing or whatever to hand. It'll be a much more satisfactory joint.

Look at Flowpoint - it is a wet (once water is added) resin based grout and much better than these sweep in ones, but significantly easier than using mortar. just squeegy it across the joints and then hose off the excess once it has semi-set. Definitely watch some installation videos before using it though, as if you leave it too long then it is hard to remove excess - but don't be put off, it is actually very simple to use even for DIY, and gives a very good finish.

Won’t the residue wash off and knacker my lawn?

"Break in transmission" as I've been away, tried all the local merchants etc., there's loads of different products but no one seems to stock Flowpoint.

Ha ha laugh
I had tried all the local suppliers, Jewson, MKM, Buildbase etc. without success.

I've been tied up with other things, including a recalcitrant pressure washers but all cleaned now. Have re set a couple of the Indian Sandstone paving and ready to point.

Will watch the Flowpoint vids before buying.
