Morning all,

Once your four new tyres have been fitted at a standard uk tyre place, do you commonly get charged for disposal of the old set?

They generally do in Germany, where I am based, and it runs to about €100 on top.

I just wondered if the fitting price had any nasty extras to be added on.

Yes, but it's only a few quid, less than £10 usually

Thanks.

I will ring the fitters to check anyway.

Have a great day!

If you're not desparate for tyres today and can wait a day or so, try Black Circles.com. They will give you a price of tyres fully fitted at a local garage. No suprises then.

I've never been charged extra for disposal, last set i had fitted the local fast fit couldn't supply the actual tyre i wanted and charged me £60 for fitting all 4, which it must be said they did a cracking job not one single mark on the 4x4 wheels i'd had repainted 6 months of so earlier.

Some list every element separately on the invoice, others just put everything on one line that includes removal/fitting/balancing/disposal/tyre.

Mine is happy to just fit tyres I've supplied, as they say they make more profit on the fitting than they would on the tyres if they tried to price match...and I only started sourcing/supplying my own tyres when they started pulling a bait & switch tactic of quoting prices ex-VAT to seem competitive, and then giving you the plus-VAT total when you came to pay (plus 3 times they ordered the wrong tyre - in 2 cases it was extra soft Porsche N-rated PS2s which lasted about 5,000 miles on my e34 M5).
