Watched this last night Stevie strangely enough came up as a suggestion biggrin the one I watched from another subscriber way back the differences were not so easy to spot frown but they was regular NGK etc not precious tipped variants . interesting none the less and owners should know about this as the outcome could be catastrophic as you know ......... flames

The lack of precious metal on then top is one sort of obvious caveat...

But packaging etc, harder to say unless the manufacturer confirmed one was incorrect.

I've had a few sets of Denso plugs which have had different boxes etc, different size, type of cardboard. Would need to check country of origin, not sure if they were the same.

But they were just different even though the plugs appeared the same although I never looked in great detail. these were just cheap copper plugs anyway....you'd assume being cheap anyway, is there much scope for profit in a fake when a new original is only like £2-3 ?

The last Iridiums I did buy were from Rockauto, they were just far cheaper than locally. Crazy really...postage faster too.

As with anything fake for sale - pricing is usually the first clue.

A friend bought a set of "genuine Volvo" spark plugs for his S60 Turbo from a well known online auction site..... electrode fell off one after a couple of weeks, que a misfire and low compression on the failed plug cylinder, he was not a happy chappy, ended up scrapping the car. The online auction site was no help as a couple of months had passed since the purchase.... I was also caught out by the same seller, but with poor quality handbrake cables for my 960,

It's a while back and I havent got the paper trail/email trail to back it up, suffice to say they are still selling and looks like genuine Volvo parts, closer attention to the ads should make alarm bells ring.... just be aware and do your due diligence.

I always start with the assumption that everything on eBay is fake.

I have first hand observable experience of a well known Motor factor selling counterfeit parts.... discovery of this cost me my job!
I witnessed, by accident, a number of individuals employed in packaging brake pads and clutches from India, into boxes from China being sold as well known brands. At another factor where I worked, the counterfeit clutches were exchanged for the real thing and returned to the manufacturer. At the time it was kind of well known on the quiet and the reason it was kept quiet is because of the size of the counterfeiters account with the manufacturer... a truly bizarre state of affairs and no I'm not going to name names.. I have no physical evidence and no wish to get involved with potential legal issues.
