Reversing light wiring
Discussion
After investigation. The reverse switch is OK. Light green/brown from switch to reverse lamps is OK. The fault is the green (ignition feed) to the switch is missing.
All done. Didn't want to pull car apart to find broken cable or faulty splice so found another supply in the loom behind the heater panel. Cut the green, taped back in loom and spliced in new cable to gearbox switch with new 10A inline fuse. We now have reversing lights.

It surprised me, but reversing lights are only an MoT requirement on cars registered after Sept 1st, 2009! Mine weren't working for a while but are now fixed too, always a good idea to indicate to others your intention.

Absolutely. Having spent nearly 35 years building luxury cars i want everything on the Griff to work. It's just my work ethic.
Plus I could never sell and tell the buyer things like the speedo doesn't light up or cigar lighter doesn't work or the reversing lights don't work. With my own ramps, tools and equipment i might as well use them. Regards.

Oh, absolutely! I agree.
Even when I had old cars in the 1990s, it annoyed me if something like an internal lamp didn't work, it HAD to be fixed. As it happens, my Griff speedo isn't illuminating, and even though I very rarely drive at night, I will remove the dash to get at it to fix it.

What i found strange when I rebuilt the dashboard last month is that the speedo has 1 panel light and the rev counter has 2.
Forgive me if already know, when you remove facia put a few layers of masking tape on the touch points to protect leather. Regards.

It's already been out several times in 5 years for alarm replacement etc, but yes, thanks for the reminder. The one lamp is why the speedo is always slightly dimmer. On a Chimaera in the past, I changed all the lamps for green LEDs with carbon effect vinyl on the dash, but I prefer standard on a veneer dash.
