Bike recommendation
Discussion
I am looking to purchase a bike to commute to work twice a week.
My office is based in London with indoor bike storage and is around a 50 minute commute on bike. The only hill is near my house for around a mile, just outside Greenwich.
I can get a Cycle2Work voucher through my employer up to £5,000.
My daily commute at the moment is currently that I walk from my house which takes 25 minutes to the tube - then on the tube 15 minutes - then 15 minutes to the office. So just under an hour commute (55 minutes).
To cycle would be 50 minutes total so a similar time but a good cost saving.
The big dilemma I have is the hill from my house to the tube is about a mile long and a good slope on the way back home after work, which has pushed me towards considering an electric bike. I was also looking at an electric Brompton but not sure if that type of distance would be a bit adventurous...
I am not against a non-electric bike at all and will probably go this route ideally.
Does anyone have any recommendations on a bike that could suit my needs within this budget?

Before going all in on an expensive bike, at the destination, is it 1) fully secure and 2) If so, do they allow E-Bike parking.
I’ve got one, I don’t have two as it’s in the basement, and this is now really common, E-bikes need to go outside where it’s absolutely not secure.
So this limits me to half year use as I’m really far out and have to traverse unlit NSL roads, which I ain’t doing on daft battery lights battling weather.

Yes the office is fully secure as we have access cards for bike cages in the basement with designated/dedicated bays for named staff.I ve got one, I don t have two as it s in the basement, and this is now really common, E-bikes need to go outside where it s absolutely not secure.

I know other people use an ebike to commute in so not an issue if I go that route...
