Hi all, we are planning an easter holidays roadtrip from Devon to Italy and back over 10 nights in the easter holidays. Accomodation has been booked so we have the bones of the trip sorted but any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

It will be my Wife and I with our two sons age 5 and 8. We have done a fair bit of driving in Europe in the past but focused more on France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany rather than heading south so this will be new for us.

The outline for the trip is as follows:

Day 1, half day at work then drive from Devon to Folkestone staying at a premier inn. (4 hours driving)
Day 2, early tunnel to calais then drive to a Eurocamp in Alsace. Staying 2 nights. (7 hours driving)
Day 4, drive to Eurocamp in Interlaken with some form of stop along the way. Staying in Interlaken for 3 nights. (3 hours driving)
Day 7, cross the Alps heading for Lake Garda. Staying for 3 nights with one day planned as a train trip to Venice. (5 hours driving)
Day 10, back up through Switzerland and France, stopping for the night in Strasbourg. (7 hours driving)
Day 11, leaving Strasbourg mid morning and heading back to Calais for an evening tunnel. Once back in the UK Mrs Rebew will take over some of the driving so although this will be a long day on the road it should be managable.

Anywhere from there that we should day trip to or any tips for more interesting detours along the route? We will be driving a VW Sharan so dynamic twisty roads will be mostly wasted on us but great views would be appreciated none the less.
