Brand new BMW - mid range tyres?

This feels like pot luck, but I am due to pick up a brand new BMW and they are coming in with Nexen or Maxxis tyres.
As a bit of a tyre snob this isn't sitting too well, and the cars we looked at and test drove had premium Bridgestones/Good Year fitted.
Is it worth fussing about at this stage. They are OE tyre and star rated, but there is a big difference in the price of the tyres if I wanted to change. Should I approach the dealer to request a change to premium now before picking up?

Both those suppliers have recently agreed new deals with BMW so I would imagine trying to get them changed at the dealers expense at this stage isn’t going to happen. Maybe best to see what they are like on the car and then if the “ tyre snob “ side of you wins think about changing them then.

Annoys me we can't spec All Season tyres in the UK. I ordered a set of CrossClimates for a new EV that I knew would come with Nexens. Ran the Nexens for 1000 miles before had chance to change them and they probably would have been fine.
As has been said I hated the run-flat Bridgestones on my Z4s so I don't think you'll be missing anything not having those!
The best run-flats I've had were Pirellis on my 123d.

Last year I replaced the rears with Hankook Vectus and they seem better. I imagine Maxxis and Nexen are on a par with those so I'd accept those. In any case if they are BMW approved I can't see them swapping them.

My car is coming with the Nexens. Nfera Sport SU2. They both look and review fairly awfully. I really am shocked that BMW would offer it.

Might be worth asking the dealer if they can swap the wheels/ tyres from another similar car prior to collection. Worse thing to happen is they say NO. My car is coming with the Nexens. Nfera Sport SU2. They both look and review fairly awfully. I really am shocked that BMW would offer it.

It was Nexen Nfera Sport tyres that our EV came with - I don t get the bit about them looking awful? They looked perfectly normal to me.To be fair the tyres were decent enough, although I upgraded them to PS4s when it was time.

Agree it's a funny thing to say, but other tyre nerds will absolutely get it. It's just something I notice on cars in general. I believe if a car has decent rubber and a premium brand, then it has been looked after better. The sidewall design isn't that great. Looks like a cheap Asian/chinese tyre when you glance at it. I always associate Nexen with a mid/budget brand. Look at the effort Continental, Michelin, Bridgestone and even Hankook put into the design and print on the side walls of tyres. They really stand out.
On the flip side I completely understand that some folk will say tyres are tyres. And that's fine. But I'm on the other side of the fence ha.
I've sent a message to BMW dealer. Let's see what they say.

And I say that as someone who threw a brand-new set of Nexens and replaced them with Michelin CrossClimates. Probably unnecessarily.
