I’m normally a very decisive person but this is doing my nut in.

I currently have a Panerai for when I’m doing stuff during the day, and a Milgauss for lounging about in and social situations, but I’ve got a hankering for another watch with a white face, possibly a chronograph, for a bit of variety.

I’ll probably buy 2nd hand off eBay, and want something 40-43mm with a fairly fluid budget of 3-6 grand, and so far I’ve looked at IWC, Tag Heuer and Omega but I haven’t been smitten with anything yet, so I’d very much appreciate some suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Zenith of some sort? Perhaps an el Primero?

I’ve never heard of Zenith, are they considered to be quality, well made watches?

The white dial Speedmaster pro was only released last year but it shouldn’t be long before these are available on the used market in your price range.

Yes, they are the real deal. Their movement was used in the Rolex Daytona for a while.

Grand Seiko, sensible
Corum Bubble, crazy

If you bought something a bit middling would you wear it considering what you have?

Happy to be proven wrong but i believe that more than just making a movement for the Daytona i think they actually made the whole watch for Rolex for a little while.

Also have a look at Chopard Mille Miglia, and IWC Portugueser chronographs

Thanks for your inputs so far, apart from that Bubble monstrosity obviously.

This looks quite nice….. https://ebay.us/m/GhckrO

Some good suggestions, yes, that was the sort of thing that I wondered if you might like. The open heart design variant is an interesting looking thing. At 42mm consider wrist size. Not sure what the lug-to-lug is. Might be a good idea to go and try one on?

Chrono24 gives at least 30k chronos between 3-6k, so you've got a lot of choice! biggrin

At that price, an Omega Seamaster would be my first choice or maybe a Tudor Pelagos/Black Bay or IWC Top Gun. Good luck with whatever you decide. That budget will give you a lot of quality choices.

It was, albeit Rolex 'detuned' the movement from 36,000 vph to 28,800 vph and removed the date function.

1/10th of a second is a useful unit for a chronograph. Less so 1/8th.

Think these are nice looking things. Not as showy/shouty as a panda Daytona.

I’m amazed you’ve spend £10-15k on watches and not heard of zenith.

I’d recommend a Speedmaster GMT. Had mine for a long time and it’s still a favourite. There’s one on TZ at the moment and are at the lower end of your budget
