smart!

Yep, that what a chap told me today, its his business too, got to see that project when its finished but I doubt its going to be viable as he going to mount it in the front so wehere does the driver/passenger go plus all the built in safety features will be out the window.

I think you will be right on that slinky, they have done bike conversions but a bloody V8 into a car designed for 600cc, be good at Santa Pod no doubt.

The Suzuki bike engine conversion looks fun, if a little hairy!
Can't see where you'd fit a Chevy engine though. What a scary prospect.

Well i guess it adds a bit more excitement. I think worrying about it going side ways when you plant your foot will be a thing of the past, more of a concern would be how to not make it do a wheelie. Also think there would be a couple of new terms that would have to be coined. What would you call it when get thrown out the back, and your ear clipped by the bumper as the rest of the car races off without you? (maybe "I just got bumpered".

Maybe a new design could be wheels all round, and the cockpit just rotates. So it wouldn't really matter when the car flips over, it just keeps going..

Plenty of headroom (more than any Holden based car) in a Smart so maybe you could mount a seat on the engine, nice now the mornings are getting a little chilly.

I think I would rather stick the SBC in a ute tray with wheels attached, bolt it to the back of the smart and leave the smart motor in for driving between drag strips.

With the short wheelbase of the smart, and the grippy nature of the line @ SP I have a feeling the smart will end up looking like a beetle on it's back..

And i really would not like the idea of trying to keep it straight during the burnout!!!!!
