Hi All, I currently have a double garage with two separate up and over doors. Looking to have these replaced with one larger door; need to be strong and secure and look nice. Any thoughts based on your experience of door construction, manufactures, installers, what to do and what to avoid?
Thanks in advance.

Have got a double Hormann door on the garage and I would have another if I was in the market. It's 42mm think, insulated and when closed it is totally sealed. blowing a gale outside not even a draft.

the speed of the opener is not that quick (but how quick do you need this)

I have an insulated sectional door. The only problem I find is that it takes up a lot of space in the ceiling area.
I use the garage as a workshop, and this can cause problems with access to shelves and limits my extration setup.

Would never have another wide up and over single skin style.

We had one fitted 2002 was fine for a few years but then started sagging in the middle, which then starts destroying the wheels that run in the tracks, single door was fine.

Replaced with a sectional Hormann which has been faultless, although as above you do lose height above

Daughter had a roller door at their previous house, which worked fine, but rattled a lot when windy, didn't make for a nice working environment.

You'll need to think about what replaces the central column in terms of holding the roof up.
