After a short drive I noticed water dripping from under the car. About two feet from the front end and slightly left of centre. Now this water was stone cold, odourless and flavourless (yes, I did actually taste it) so I am assuming that it is merely water that had accumulated due to the car being left out in the rain. However it did strike me as odd that, if that were the case, how it hadn't run out before driving as there had been no rain since yesterday. Perhaps it had swilled about due to driving but it seemed odd. I haven't the time today to seriously look into it but given that it was cold and not smelling of anything am I right in thinking it was just accumulated rain water?

Almost certainly rain.
There are a couple of holes that were either drain holes, or the original fixing point of the front splitter under the nose.
It’s good that it drains, otherwise water would dit around an earth point and other wiring, as well as on the front chassis/body bolts.
